Once In A Lifetime Experience

点评：We met Rolando at the beach by Riu Guanacaste wearing a Trip Advisor shirt. He had been recommended to us by another couple at Riu.
We booked a tour on Friday and took the tour on Sunday. On Sunday Rolando immediately recognized us and introduced us to our guide Heiner. Heiner did a remarkable job of telling us about Costa Rica and the Guanacaste area from the perspective of a local resident.
We drove to Fortuna to see one of the volcanoes and then went to see the hot springs. The smell walking up is overwhelming at first. Heiner reminded us that there is a lot of sulfur in the water coming from the volcano. We quickly overlooked the smell as we focused on the beauty of the area. While there we enjoyed a steam bath, mud bath and three separate water baths (hot, warm and cold). Heiner talked us through the process from start to finish and waited patiently for us. After, he took us to a local restaurant to enjoy a delicious lunch overlooking the forest. From there we traveled to a beautiful waterfall (my favorite part of the day)and swam in the small pool at the bottom.
Heiner took lots of pictures for us throughout the tour, and ended the day at a small shopping area to purchase some souvenirs.
This was a Once In A Lifetime experience and we would recommend it to anyone staying in the Guanacaste area.
