点评:We were not planning on stopping in Klamath Falls, but a trusted friend told us to check out this private museum and we were glad to have followed her advice. Half the venue is dedicated to "western art" but they were in the midst of prepping for a new show so it was temporarily off-limits; this was fine, really, because I'm not a big fan of themed art -- though, some of the paintings I saw were rather good. The other half of the museum is Native American Artifacts, of which they have an astonishing collection, all of it nicely presented. Klamath Falls was home to many tribes for as much as 11,000 years so this region (once abundantly stocked with fish, as well as Native Americans) has yielded a trove of materials. The arrow-points and spear-points alone are breathtaking. One of the museum walls is thoroughly composed of the stone mortars, pestles and metates which they dug up JUST ON THIS SITE when they were building the museum itself! The exhibits are informative and sensitively described, including some typos and howlers, so I felt I learned quite a bit just in the hour or so we spent here. I would append a photo or two, but photography was not permitted.
