点评:Kaisaniemi Park (17 hectares) is the oldest park in Finland and it was named after restaurant owner Cajsa Wahllund (1771-1843). Kaisa is Cajsa's nickname or the modern version of the name Cajsa and niemi means a cape. The area of the park was used as a grazing land for cattle and as a fruit tree garden in the 18th century but as early as at the end of the 18th century the area was a public walking place and a recreation area where people spent their leisure time. The official park was founded in 1812 and the park promenade was opened in 1827. In 1828 four hectares were assigned to Kaisaniemi Botanic Garden which is still in operation. The renovation of the park started in 2022 and it is still ongoing.
I love this versatile park. You find good walking paths, beautiful seating areas, many picnic spots, several statues or sculptures (The Young Elk, Convolvulus, Fredrik Pacius, The Curtain), tennis courts, playgrounds, the botanical garden and the historical cafeteria named Cajsan Helmi in the park. Read separate Tripadvisor reviews about Kaisaniemi Botanic Garden and Cajsan Helmi. Cafe Viola is located in the botanical garden. So you find something for everybody here.
