点评:Our family did View Ningaloo’s 2-hour Coral Viewing & Snorkel Tour on Saturday 26 September and it was without doubt one of the highlights of our WA road trip.
From the moment we arrived at Tantabiddi boat ramp, Lucy gave us a wonderfully warm welcome. We joined a small group of fellow travellers from Switzerland and the Netherlands before heading out onto Ningaloo Reef aboard the incredible SubSea Explorer.
Viewing the reef from the lower deck of “The Sub” was an experience in itself. Sitting below the waterline and looking through the large windows gives you a completely different perspective of the reef. Coming from Queensland, we were fascinated by just how close Ningaloo Reef is to the mainland compared with the Great Barrier Reef.
Lucy provided the commentary throughout the trip and her knowledge of Ningaloo Reef, its marine life and the local area was exceptional. Her enthusiasm for the reef is infectious and she had a great ability to explain what we were seeing without making it feel like a lecture.
Matt was our skipper and, after assessing the conditions that afternoon, offered us the opportunity to do a drift snorkel because of the stronger current. What a fantastic decision! It wasn't something we had expected to do on the tour and ended up being one of my favourite experiences of our entire trip.
We were provided with wetsuit tops, masks, snorkels, fins and flotation noodles before Lucy led us into the water. Drifting effortlessly over the coral while watching the reef and marine life pass underneath us was absolutely amazing. At all times we felt safe and well looked after, with Lucy in the water with us and Matt keeping watch from The Sub. They were also wonderful with our 10-year-old son Liam and really made a fuss of him, which we greatly appreciated.
Once everyone was back aboard, we dried off and headed downstairs into the warmth of the underwater viewing deck for the trip back. Matt continued putting us over the good spots while Lucy pointed out and explained what we were seeing. We were fortunate to see plenty of marine life, including barracuda, trevally and a turtle.
What really stood out to us was how personal the whole experience felt. Matt and Lucy clearly know Ningaloo Reef extremely well, but just as importantly, they genuinely seem to love sharing it with their guests. There was never any feeling of simply being taken through a standard tourist itinerary.
Jenn, Liam and I had an absolutely brilliant afternoon.
If you're visiting Exmouth and want to experience Ningaloo Reef both in the water and from beneath the waterline, I couldn't recommend Matt, Lucy and View Ningaloo highly enough.
Thanks Matt and Lucy for giving our family such a memorable experience. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
