Swanage Pier的点评
点评：In the UK, it feels like the dive spots in land are disappearing with increasing concerns of incidents, on researching some great diving we had on this occasion decided to go to Swanage pier, it’s all the rave with “Divers down under “ where you can choose, either to go out on boat dives capturing all levels from drift to deep and wreak, after all it is the ocean.
We decided to head down from gravesend Kent, around 2-3 hours drive, when we arrived there is a pier fee so stop at the gates or you may be chased, maybe that was just me but they are lovely people on the pier and will help where they can.
When getting on the pier, paid for parking and diving around £15, getting kitted up can be tiring so take your time.
On the pier, they have kit trollies to support movement of kit when parking down pier as can be alittle way onto the pier.
I urge you if you are attending to dive only the pier as we did, please prepare your briefing and buddy checks every time.
Ok so we suited and scuba ready, you go onto pier and down the stairs for a giant stride into the water, you must stay under the pier at all times so maybe set your bearings on a compass, this way you stay safe from boat traffics as your dive will be between 2-4 metres.
The lift down there you see is oysters, mud crabs, large schools of fish etc.
The visibility can be around 4-5 metres in the swish as the tide comes in, the water temp is around 27c in July. I wore wetsuit 5mm on this date but do have a dry suit but why when suns out, scuba out.
The dive time is approx 45-50 minutes based on what you are looking at.
When you surface to exit the best way is to go towards the beach and you find concrete steps with rope to help you out that is next to cars.
If you need a refill of air, the dive shop can support you, if not there is a pub which serves food for a beautiful lunch and scenic views.
