Headland Lookout, Walking Trails, Rock Platform & Rockpools
Long Reef Point的点评
点评：Long Reef Point is a very scenic area that encompasses a headland lookout, stunning ocean views, walking trails, a beach and a large natural rock platform with rock pools and sea-life.
We started our climb to the lookout point from the Long Reef Golf Clubhouse. At first we followed the road that runs alongside the golf course, which soon turned into a paved walking path through light bushland until we reached the top. It was an easy walk and a reasonably gentle, uphill slope.
The outlook from the top is absolutely panoramic. We spent some time just pausing to appreciate the view that stretched to the north, to the south and out across the ocean.
There’s a drinking fountain so we were able to re-fill our water bottles and there’s a large rounded seat decorated with sea-themed mosaics.
A gate at the top leads to a set of stairs that runs all the way down to the rock plateau at the base of the headland.
This is all part of a marine reserve and is protected which, amongst other things, means that you can't take dogs past this point and you can’t take shells or anything else away from the area.
We headed down the stairs which are pretty steep and somewhat uneven. They are roughly built and the gravel and sand can be a bit slippery. On some steps, the dirt has fallen away, leaving the riser sticking up which can be a tripping hazard. It's not difficult or hard but you just might want to watch your footing.
We walked down at high tide which meant that most of the rock plateau was under water so we couldn’t explore the rock pools. It was still worth walking around the base of the cliff with its striking geological patterns and formations but, if you can manage your timing, it’s would be much better to come at low tide.
