Dee Why Beach的点评
点评：Dee Why Beach is one of a long, long string of beaches that starts at Manly and sweeps up the northern coastline. Starting from Manly, you pass Freshwater and Curl Curl before getting to Dee Why.
It’s not really a tourist destination as there are too many other bigger, more popular and more accessible beaches to visit. However it’s a classic Australian surf beach, with a long stretch of sand and rolling waves.
You’ll find all the basic facilities here - life-savers, toilets, changing rooms, and outdoor showers.
At the south end, there’s a brand new playground overlooking the beach and two ocean pools - a large 50 metre pool and a smaller shallow one which small children can wade into and splash around. The pools are not immediately obvious and if you don’t know they’re there, you can miss them. You’ll need to follow the path around the southern headland to get to them.
Like Manly, Dee Why has a promenade that runs from ocean pool along the beachfront. This is a nice walking area but it’s only a very short walk and the path peters out around the middle of the beach.
Across the road from the beach, there’s a string of lively cafes and casual restaurants. This is definitely the best place to get a coffee or lunch. Don’t bother looking further afield as the main shopping area, along Pittwater Rd, is old, drab and has little to offer.
GETTING HERE: Parking is free if you have a Northern Beaches resident sticker, otherwise most street parking near the beach is metred. However public transport is fairly direct. Buses run regularly to Dee Why but most stop along the main road so you will have to factor in a short walk to the beach.
