点评:This market is open on Sundays and Wednesdays. We got a taxi from our hotel (ambre) to the market - the taxi will wait upto 3 hours for you and will cost about £20. We were so excited to go as we love looking around local markets.
On arrival at the market on a Sunday at 9:30am it was already very busy. Initially the market smelt like poor drainage which was unpleasant. It was also very dark and busy inside. We continued to walk through the busy market, lots of fruit and vegetables being sold, a few tourist "traps" selling magnets, cashmere scarves and trinkets. They will not leave you alone until you buy something. After 30 minutes my husband and I decided to leave, it was not a great experience. We got back into the taxi, who decided to take us on a scenic route back to our hotel past another "souvenir shop that we had to go and look inside" being the polite people we are we went inside to be greeted by 4 staff members not leaving us alone and it made us feel that we HAD to buy something to get away. It was so expensive inside that we ended up paying £44 for 2 mauritius t-shirts.... I was not impressed and angry we were made to feel like this.
The whole experience lasted 90 minutes and I was so grateful to get back to our hotel. I definitely would Not recommend this market and if you do go, do not let the Taxi driver take you anywhere else apart from the market and back.... you will be Conned!
