Burra Railway Station的点评
点评：A delightful find – hubby is a mad keen rail enthusiast and this was the perfect place to stay for a few days on a recent road trip. The whole station has been lovingly and beautifully restored and the Porter’s Room accomodation section is just lovely. High ceilings, timber floors, perfect for a couple. The lounge has a slow combustion fire, which we revelled in as the nights were very cool and the rooms were quite cold when we first arrived. There’s also a reverse cycle air conditioner in the lounge and another one in the bedroom so we were quite comfortable. The promised electric blanket didn’t materialise but we survived without it. The only other slight inconvenience is that there is nowhere to hang any clothing. There’s a generous kitchen, a dining room, and laundry facilities. Thoughtfully and thoroughly equipped, we cooked dinner a couple of nights, including a BBQ on the platform using the supplied kettle BBQ, and breakfasts each morning – generous supplies of bread, butter and spreads, cereals, milk, juice were all on hand and included in the tariff. We pottered into the museum next door (aka the rest of the station building) and enjoyed the visit. We had no concerns about noise or privacy from the couple of hours each day that the museum is open. Our favourite times were the late afternoons/early evenings when we retired to the platform with a glass of wine and watched the sun kiss the rails, before sinking below the hills – a magical experience. We would go back and happily spend a week there quite comfortably and there’s plenty to do around beautiful Burra.
