点评：Plaza de España is one of the most important landmarks in Santo Domingo's Colonial Zone. During the colonial era, this was one of the city's main entrances from the Ozama River. The steep streets surrounding the plaza were intentionally designed to slow attackers and help protect the city from pirate invasions.
Today, the square is home to the Alcázar de Colón and is surrounded by some of Santo Domingo's best restaurants, with many main courses ranging from $25 to $50. Although it's a popular gathering place, Plaza de España is still a free public square where visitors can relax, take photos, and enjoy one of the city's most historic settings.
