Short walks to see the Tasman glacier lake and icebergs

点评：One of the popular places to visit in the Aoraki/Mt Cook National Park is the Blue Lakes and Tasman Glacier area at the end of Tasman Valley Road. There is a sizeable car park for day visitors, public toilets and public shelter along with trailheads for several short walks to see the Blue Lakes as well as the Tasman Glacier lake including an elevated viewpoint location, jetty and river location at the south end of the lake.
The walks are fairly easy and short, making them accessible for most with the most basic of footwear and walking abilities. The walk up to the main viewpoint includes a decent ascend of around 100 metres. Views of the powder blue lake and receding glacier in the distance, moraine banks and snow-capped mountains are very rewarding. You will probably see flowing icebergs in the lake as well.
The trail to the river is particularly rewarding. At the end of the trail you can walk down to the shoreline and see the lake and floating icebergs up close. All is rather beautiful here. We have enjoyed stopping here for longer stays and enjoying packed lunch and snacks during visits in the past as well as recently. The location is beautiful and peaceful worth making time to see during visits to the National Park.
