One of Our Favorite Places for Live Theater in Murfreesboro
Center for the Arts的点评
点评：Center for the Arts is one of our favorite places to see live theater in Murfreesboro. My daughter and I have attended many productions here over the years, and we are currently season ticket holders, so we have had the chance to experience quite a few of their shows.
The quality of the productions has consistently impressed us. Hairspray is still our favorite main stage show we have seen here and was honestly the best production of Hairspray I have ever seen. We also recently attended the Teen Company production of 13 the Musical and were incredibly impressed by the young performers.
The theater is located just off the historic downtown square in a beautiful former post office building. The auditorium itself is small and intimate, which is one of the things I really enjoy about seeing shows here. The stage is at floor level, so if you're sitting near the front, you are incredibly close to the performers.
The auditorium does feel a little dated, particularly the seating and carpeting, but it is still comfortable and has never taken away from our experience.
Before the show, you can spend some time in the gallery, which features work from local artists. I especially like that the exhibits often seem to complement the production currently on stage. There is also a small concession area with very reasonably priced snacks and drinks.
Center for the Arts also has a large educational component through Center Stage Academy, with productions, camps and classes for young performers. My daughter has participated in several of their productions and classes, so we have experienced the Center both from the audience and as a theater family.
If you're visiting Murfreesboro and enjoy live theater, I definitely recommend checking the performance schedule to see what is playing while you're in town. It's a great way to experience the local arts community and spend an evening near the downtown square.
