点评：After having visited the Highlands in Scotland in May and seeing highland “coos” in fields from our tour bus, I became obsessed with needing to see one up close and personal.
Island Hill Farms delivered.
We arrived at the super clean and friendly farm shortly before the 3pm experience. The cows were grazing in the field.
After checking in, we toured the rest of the farm until a staff member was ready to guide us over to the special “Hi to the Highlands” experience.
Every staff member we encountered was friendly and full of information about the animals the farm in general. We held a 6-day old goat, interacted with the other mamas and dairy goats. We visited the barn and were greeted by the friendly owner who was beaming with pride over the farm, her staff, and the animals.
It was such a beautiful day to get up close and personal with all the animals and see the love each staff has for them. They all seemed to love what they were doing and it showed in how the animals responded to them.
The highland experience was well worth it too. Under supervision of the staff, we learned the cows names, were given safety instructions to feed them, and cautions about interacting with them and avoiding their horns. They gave us time to take pictures and offered to take pictures of us with the cows. They had funny stories to share too. Joe was the perfect guide for this experience.
Totally recommend visiting - next time I will also take advantage of the cafe on site!
