点评：Flying in the Spitfire with Spitfires.com was one of the most extraordinary experiences of my life.
It’s visceral, powerful, and at times honestly a little overwhelming. As we lifted into the English skies, I found myself unexpectedly tearful. There’s something profoundly moving about the combination of awe, history, engineering, and human courage that surrounds this aircraft. You simply cannot help but feel the weight of history on the wings of a Spitfire — and immense gratitude for those who flew them in anger.
What struck me throughout was the reverence with which the entire team treats both the aircraft and its history. This isn’t some theme park thrill ride. It feels meaningful. Respectful. Important.
Safety is clearly a huge priority too, which matters enormously when you’re climbing into a living, breathing piece of history. And you absolutely feel that history once airborne. This is an old and incredible warplane, and it moves like one - alive, mechanical, responsive to the lightest touch.
I had the chance to actually fly the aircraft myself making some very gentle turns, while the pilot took the controls looping the loops and victory roll over the White Cliffs of Dover - a sentence I still can’t quite believe I’m writing. Was it all a dream?
The crew and pilot were exceptional throughout: warm, passionate, reassuring, and clearly deeply proud of what they do.
I’ll never forget this experience.
