点评:Not been to Pontefract before so decided to pay a visit to 30 East Drive (One of the most haunted houses in the UK) as well as the museum, castle and town itself.
Parking is best at Stuart Road (where Tesco / Morrisons is) which is pay and display and you can easily walk through to the town centre and the museum, which is 2 minutes walk from the car park at Stuart Road.
Museum is a lot smaller than expected with essentially three rooms. The first room contained most of the interesting stuff and artefacts about local history and was enjoyable.
Second room full of artwork and the final room was for a small collection of glassware.
There is an accessible toilet in the building too and entry is free, although please do give a donation if you can.
Staff friendly and helpful on entry.
It took us about 30 minutes to look round at best so whilst worth visiting, it is very small.
Worth the 10 minute walk to the castle if you have time and Ponty town centre wasn't as bad as I expected.
It was an odd mix of some beautiful old buildings and structures alongside some grotesque concrete buildings
Overall though it was a pleasant place to visit with very few empty shops and a small market.
