点评:After climbing the 365 Calvari steps I came down a different way, so that I could include a visit of the 'Pont Romá' (as the bridge is called in Mallorquin). The quite attractive small stone bridge crosses the Torrente de Sant Jordi in the northern part of Pollença. The humpback bridge built from fieldstones has two arches and the central pier is strengthened upstream with a starling against too much water.
In its character the bridge could be from antiquity, although Pollentia, the town which the Romans built, is several kilometers away at Alcudia, while the history of the town of Pollença only goes back to the 13th century. It may have been part of a Roman aqueduct supplying water from the river to Pollentia, but this is very doubtful. Probably the bridge was built in the middle ages. The name 'Pont Romá' was first recorded only in the 19th century.
