点评：We had the best time on our day canoe trip with Jeff from Way To Go Outfitters in Ely, MN, last Friday. My fiance saw info. about Boundary Waters several years ago and he was interested. So, we decided to travel to MN and check them out this year. Jeff gave me the best information to decide what we might want to do and the best price, I feel, for all that was included. He transported us and the canoe to the entry points, which really appealed to me, thus not having to load the canoe on top of my newer Rav 4 Toyota. We decided to do a full day trip with Jeff as our guide, instead of a half day . He portaged the canoe and we carried the paddles & our back packs. He took us on North & South Hegman Lakes north of Ely and we paddled to the Indian pictographs. Very neat & he explained the picture. We saw beautiful landscapes and huge rock outcroppings. Then, he took us to Lake One entry point, east of Ely. Instead of paddling to the left side & going to Lake One, we went to the right side and Jeff showed us where a river feeds into the waters. We also had to portage around an area with rapids which were not deep enough to paddle through. We saw two beautiful trumpeter swans, who eventually flew, which was beautiful to see. They are huge. Later, we saw two more swans and they left us get very close to them. They really didn't care that we were there. I took great pics & video. It was a beautiful, crisp sunny day with the trees turning color. We saw several beaver lodges. Jeff even lit a campfire for us to warm up at the one campsite where we had our snacks in the afternoon. We highly recommend trying this out with Way To Go Outfitters. They also offer trips on your own whereas they can pack your food and provide other necessities. Being novices at this, we wanted to experience a day trip instead of doing several days or more canoeing/camping on our own. It was wonderful. We also stayed three nights in their house they provide for canoers instead of staying somewhere else in town. It was very nice & convenient to be right there in the morning, ready to go. Way To Go Outfitters is the "way to go" canoeing in the Boundary Waters!!!
