点评:Situated in the St Christopher Bastion, right next door to the Lower Barrakka Gardens, is the Siege Bell War Memorial. This beautiful memorial was commemorated by Queen Elizabeth 11, in the prsence of the Maltese President Censu Tabone, in May 1992, which roughly marked the 50th anniversary of her father, King George VI, awarding the George Cross to Malta (King George awarded the medal (which can be seen in the National War Museum in Fort St. Elmo) on 15 April 1942 in recognition of the bravery of the island's civilian population and the military personnel stationed on the island during the Second World War). This simple but elegant memorial is ideally situated with wonderful views across Grand Harbour. To the right of the memorial is an 'Unknown Soldier' statue which honours the over 1,500 civilian and military deaths on the island during that war. It is well worth standing here, imagining what it must have been like during those days and remembering those who did not survive.
