点评:Met up here on recommendation for its traditional style of food, and I, for one, wasn't disappointed. We arrived just before opening time of 12 and headed a small queue of hungry travellers. The remainder of our party arrived as the doors opened, and we seated ourselves besides a well established fire. The place has a proper English pub vibe, with food predominantly pies and stews. I knew straight away this food would be good, it just had confidence about it that I knew it would deliver. There was a selection of ales that I hadn't heard of to my delight, and as a passenger today, I took full advantage of trying them out. It was early December and I was tempted by the Artisan Christmas Pie for food, which arrived in due course, with the GL trying the impressive looking Goulash. Service was efficient and friendly, food hot and tasty. My first bite screamed Christmas, with all the taste of my homemade Xmas coming through, with the remaining party members also thoroughly enjoying their food. We were tempted by the full selection of Cheese and Biscuits for dessert, trying the IOM Red Leicester, though I don't know how that works, and a pepper infused Cheddar. Portions were generous, too much really, but better than not enough. They don't do bookings here and it's easy to see why the food does all the talking. Would happily return anytime.
