点评：An Unforgettable Experience at Fish & Olive
Our visit to Fish & Olive in Halki was one of the most memorable experiences of our trip to Naxos—and truly one of the highlights of our time in Greece.
We traveled from Chora to Halki specifically in search of beautiful, original local art. From the moment we entered the gallery, we fell in love with the work of Katharina and Alexander. We then visited the boutique, where we purchased a beautiful vase and a special gift for a dear friend, never imagining how much more meaningful those pieces would become.
While there, Katharina came to personally package our vase, and soon Alexander joined us. What we expected to be a quick visit became more than an hour of conversation, laughter and stories. They generously welcomed us into their workshops and gallery and shared the journey behind their art, their love of Naxos and the ocean, and the wonderful story of how they met on the island.
Learning the story behind our vase—the years and how it came to life —completely changed the way we saw it. We also purchased one of Alexander’s beautiful jewelry pieces. Even the gift we had already chosen for our friend took on unexpected meaning after Alexander shared a personal story with us.
That was the magic of our afternoon: once we heard the stories behind the pieces, they were no longer simply beautiful objects—they had meaning.
We also want to recognize the wonderful young woman who welcomed us at the gallery and the young man who assisted us at the boutique. Everyone made us feel more like guests than customers.
We left Fish & Olive with beautiful art, but more importantly, with stories and memories we will carry home. Our vase will eventually have a place in both Boston and Puerto Rico, and every time we see it, we’ll remember that wonderful afternoon in Halki.
Naxos became our favorite island, and Fish & Olive is a big part of why.
If you’re visiting Naxos, make the trip to Halki and visit Fish & Olive. Don’t simply stop in to admire the beautiful art—take the time to experience the gallery and boutique and, if you have the opportunity, meet the people behind the work. It’s an experience we will always remember.
