Avoid - a ruined 40th birthday celebration... or did they not want to cater for allergies?

点评：We had our wedding at the Nottinghamshire 13 years ago at Easter and thought it would be nice to go back there for my 40th birthday this Easter. I phoned up in advance and asked if they would be able to cater for an afternoon tea for 5 adults and 2 children (one of the children has a peanut allergy). The response I received was very encouraging and I was told that someone would price it up and call me back. No one did. I called again, the week before and was again told that someone would call me back. No one did again! I then called up 2 days before my birthday and said that if they can't do an afternoon tea, that's fine and we would like to book a table at the restaurant for a normal lunch instead. I was again promised that someone would call me back. Guess what... no one did!
Absolutely appalling treatment of a potential customer who was going to spend quite a bit of money for a significant celebration. There are only two explanations I can think of...
1. They don't care about their customers.
2. They didn't want to cater for a peanut allergy child.
I don't know which it was, but we definitely will not be returning to mark any other significant (or non-significant) occasions there.
You could have ruined by 40th birthday by keeping me hanging on and not being straight with me, and that is unforgiveable.
