Late last summer my we engaged Pyrenean Experience to take us sailing for a full day along the Basque Coast south of Biarritz, France. Georgina and John were perhaps the most accommodating, most generous, most fun skippers we have ever met. Once aboard their boat at the Hendaye marina, at our minor suggestion they agreed to alter the original route from sailing north along France, to sail south to San Sebastian, Spain. Jon is a local of Basque origin and shared some captivating family history. Georgina shared her own experiences from the perspective of a non-native Basque culture lover (and author). Add in perfect weather, swimming, ports to explore, fantastic wines, and local cheeses and seafood, and we had the perfect vacation day! We came away culturally enriched and blessed with new friends! A warning to Jon, Georgina, and Basque Country……we WILL return!
