Deliana Gorge的点评
点评：The «Mesavlia Gorge» and the «Deliana Gorge» are one and the same gorge. How does that work? If you come from the north, you drive by car via the town of Deliana and the signs say «Deliana Gorge». From the south you can come by car or by bus and then the signs say «Gorge of Mesavlia», the name of the nearest hamlet Mesavlia.
The walk is super easy and leads via a good hiking trail. This walk is also great to do with children. It is not a round walk but a walk there and back and you can walk it there and back in less than 2 hours. We always take longer, because we also take photos and look at flowers and birds. If you are lucky, you will also see vultures circling high above you in the sky. As mentioned, you have a picnic spot at the northern access road, but on the southern side of the gorge you can take a break in the shade at the chapel «Agia Paraskevi». When we walked here in May, the river along the hiking trail had little water. That is not unimportant, because you regularly walk through the riverbed.
By car you can park at a quiet picnic spot at the northern entrance of the gorge. From the south you also have the option of driving to the southern starting point of the walk. But you can also get here by bus. The bus stop is on the route from Chania on the north coast to Paleochora on the south coast of Crete. The stop where you have to get off is Mesavlia.
