A pleasant, very rural summer ride.
Wells & Walsingham Light Railway的点评
点评:A quirky little railway that utilizes part of the track bed of the former Wells to Fakenham and Wymondham line, and it still does serve a purpose as it connects the busy seaside town of Wells with the lovely village of Walsingham.
The interesting thing is its size, such a narrow gauge, it's a novelty so you need to expect very modest seating and a rickety ride. I think this is part of the charm, and it was nice to roll through unspoilt open countryside at a slow pace. Of course, the glorious 2026 summer weather did help - although that was probably why no steam loco was being used.
True, vistas are few, as much of it is driven through cutting, but this was originally a Victorian line built to get from A to B. Yes - no outstanding views but remember this is England not Switzerland!
I found the staff to be friendly, and the price not too expensive. The only downside is that there are only 4 trains a day (and you can't buy a rover ticket in advance) so we just parked at Walsingham and rode to Wells and Back, then explored Walsingham and Wells at leisure. A nice day.
