点评：If you want to learn about the history of the silk industry that supported Japan's modernization, this is an absolute must-visit. If you expect a typical museum that merely displays relics of the past, you will be pleasantly surprised.
The biggest highlight is that it is the only museum in Japan with an active, operating silk reeling factory (Miyasaka Silk Reeling Co.) located right inside. Rather than just looking through glass from a distance, you can observe the evolution of technology right before your eyes, from operating early-Meiji era Suwa-style reeling machines to modern automatic ones. Experiencing the authentic atmosphere up close—the rhythmic sounds of the moving machinery and the unique scent of boiling cocoons—is a precious experience you can only find here.
What makes this visit even more special is that you can actually try your hand at reeling silk thread directly from the cocoons yourself! Witnessing the process of how the "life" of a living silkworm transforms into beautiful silk thread, and getting hands-on with the reeling process, left me deeply moved, as if I had touched the very origins of craftsmanship.
This is a highly satisfying facility where you can connect with history, technology, and the warmth of the local community. I highly recommend taking the time to visit when you are in Nagano Prefecture.
