Beautiful, clean and quiet beach

点评：A very beautiful beach near the city of Ierapetra; unfortunately, the vegetation on the surrounding hills was affected by the devastating fire in the summer of 2024 (though less severely than in other areas).
There are two private beach sections: a larger one on the left as you face the sea, where there is also a restaurant, and a smaller one on the right. In between, there is a fairly generous public area (more than half of the beach), reserved for those who want to spread their towels directly on the sand. Those who don’t want to rent a sunbed can also sit among the rocks at the edges of the beach.
The seabed is covered with round pebbles, which makes the water very clear - you can see fish swimming right at your feet.
At both ends of the beach, where the rocks begin, the underwater landscape is spectacular and very suitable for snorkeling enthusiasts.
The beach is very easy to reach by car from Ierapetra (about a 15-minute drive), although parking spaces are somewhat limited.
If you don’t want to drive, you can take the bus on the Ierapetra – Makry Gialos line and get off at the “Hotel Achlia” stop. From there, you can walk down to the beach on a paved road, and along the way there are several spots from which you can take photos of the entire bay.
If you miss the “Hotel Achlia” stop, you can get off at the next one, on the other side of the valley, but you’ll have to walk a few hundred meters along the roadside, where cars tend to drive at high speed.
Prices: last year, a set of two sun loungers and an umbrella cost 10 euros per day.
Drinks are quite cheap, comparable to prices at a simple bar in the city. I didn’t check the food prices.
If you go by bus, the ticket costs about 4–5 euros, depending on how much you travel.
There are also many villas in the area offering accommodation, but unfortunately, following the 2024 fire, the landscape looks a bit desolate.
