Lovely Autumnal Day Paddling on Dordogne

点评：Have just spent a beautiful September afternoon, with family and friends, paddling on open-top kayaks down the Dordogne from Pont de Gorlejac to La Roque-Gageac.
Obviously helped by glorious sunshine we spent about 3 hours on the 17km trip stopping off for riverside snacks halfway. The scenery was glorious although, not many castles/chateaus on this particular stretch of river. It was very quiet, being end-of-season. The river was slightly higher than normal and noticably colder than on previous trips.
We saw herons, egrets, kingfishers and other birdlife as well as some large barbel - but few other fish which was a surprise.
The canoe company 'Canoe Carsac Explorando' were great. Competitively priced and provided good quality canoes and safety equipment. Their two staff (more in peak season) picked us up exactly on time from the finishing point.
Not a big issue, but if arriving from Sarlat, at Grolejac, the canoe base isn't clearly marked (it is signed if driving northwards). The turning, into a small road, is immediately on your right hand side, when you cross over the bridge.
