The Epic Ramayana retold - Balinese Style
普兰巴南寺戶外舞蹈表演的点评
点评：Perhaps the top dance/drama in Indonesia closely followed by Fire Dance in Bali, the Ramayana Ballet performed at a separate complex near the Prambanan Temple is a must experience while you are at Prambanan temple area.
The music is mesmerizing, the costumes of the dancers are brilliant and the dance choreography is beautiful.
The epic Ramayana is retold Balinese style here in the Prambanan complex with very good music, light and sound effect.
The flood lit three gopuras of Prambanan temple ruins is set as the background for this ballet.
The master of ceremony was inaudible and needs to speak more slowly. The intermission could also be preponed to a more dramatic event like the abduction of Sita.
The Injourney / Goers website needs a thorough revamp. It is showing the VIP and other seating areas as fully sold which is not correct. Tickets were still available on the day of visit.
The seats were still available in the auditorium with the free seating area almost empty. The ticket counters opened only @7.00 pm even though the queue started forming almost from 6.00 pm onwards. Payment by local currency was another pain point.
The coffee served free for the class was good but the cup was leaking resulting in spillage and stained shirt.
The seats made of cement were uncomfortable and very small. Provision of cushions could be considered.
While the focus of the ballet seems to be on the actors, the musicians play an equally important role in the show. No proper introduction of the individual musicians or the name of their instrument was made.
The cement floor of the ballet was badly damaged and cracked. It is suggested that weather proof wooden dance floor could be installed or the dancers could be provided with ballet shoes.
An audio guide / pamphlet could also be provided for the foreigners who are not familiar with the Ramayana epic.
Overall, in spite of the inaudible public address system, a memorable experience where the epic Ramayana was retold, Balinese style.
