A Captivating Guided Tour - The Natural World of Cyprus - Worth Your Time

点评：After driving up into the hills to Episkopi is the new looking visitor centre dedicated to showcasing the flora, fauna and geologically unique minerals (rocks) to be found in the hills and valley around. We were greeted by the receptionist and tour guide who makes a visit to this place worthwhile through the sheer force of her enthusiasm and knowledge. We started with a 25 minute, beautifully filmed video, narrated in English, of the wide range of wildlife and plants to be found in the hills and valley.
Next we were given a tour of the exhibition space which starts with a wall display of the surprisingly numerous types of rocks. This is where our guide explained how the geological transformation that has occurred over the millennia led to such incredible outcomes such as what was once the sea bed is now on the tops of the hills.
Then there is the explanation of how the trees and plants provide different environments for the food sources, as well as protection, for all the wildlife in the air, on the ground and near water. There were additional displays of the types of wildlife, some unique to Cyprus. A well thought out and presented exhibition space.
Finally we walked around the outside of the building with our guide looking at much of what we just learned, beside a small river they have created, and then onto a vista of the hills and valley beyond. The guide brought this all to life in such a captivating manner for which she deserves high praise.
Well worth another visit in other seasons.
