点评:Limit the number of tickets sold on a daily basis at the height of the summer season. The experience would then be much more enjoyable for visitors who would have room to move and stop to look at things other than being crammed in like sardines in the narrow street, shops and restaurants.
Seriously needs consideration for improvement and control of numbers visiting.
With two children with us we had taken our own snacks and drinks. We sat on a stone bench outside the abbey while the children ate some snacks. We were rudely approached by a member of staff, a cleaner, who shouted at the top of his voice that we shouldn’t be eating there while he banged loudly on a sign at the entrance to the abbey which stated no smoking, eating etc. This sign applied to the inside of the abbey, not to where we were sitting. The staff members behaviour was unacceptable. We are ordinary law abiding respectable people who would never dream of being disrespectful in a religious place and we did not deserve to be treated and shouted at in this way. It was also extremely embarrassing as there were crowds of people around.
We managed to get a table in one restaurant which had an outside seating area overlooking the bay, namely La Vieille Auberge. After waiting for around 15 minutes I had to ask for a menu and was told by the waiter he could not order us drinks. After another 15 minutes I asked a waitress if I could order drinks and food as we had received no service at our table. I was informed she could not serve us as it was another waiter/waitresses area. After waiting another 10 minutes with still no service we gave up and walked out. I have since seen reviews on this restaurant of which numerous mention the same problem. This place is not worth bothering about and don’t deserve the business. They should shut their doors and go home, they have nothing to be proud of.
The only positive experience was the surprisingly reasonably well organised shuttle buses to and from the car park to the Mont.
All in all a very disappointing trip with our grand children to what is a beautiful, unique and special
place.
We won’t be back.
