点评:Hiking from Fira to Oia provided spectacular views and an amazing experience. I started early in the morning not long after sunrise which helped to avoid crowds. The first portion of the hike involves walking the easy paved path through the towns of Fira and Firostefani. This allows a chance to stop and see the much photographed Three Bells of Fira. You then arrive at impressive Skaros Rock which protrudes out into the sea just west of Imerovigli. This provides another hiking opportunity as there is a rugged and mildly strenuous trail that takes you behind the rock to a small church overlooking the sea. This was well worth it as it was one of the highlights of the whole hike that morning. As the hike continues, it becomes unpaved and more remote. Although there are great views throughout, it does become a bit arduous as you realize how long of a hike this really is. It is 6.5 miles with no shade (7.5 is you add the hike out to Skaros Rock). It took just under 4 hours. The last portion is more rugged and involves some elevation change and I was quite relieved when I finally reached the very busy but scenic town of Oia. There are regular public buses that travel back to Fira. Not only was this an incredibly scenic hike, but it gave me a sense of accomplishment knowing that I got to experience something that only a fraction of visitors to Santorini experience.
