点评:We stayed in Hellidon Lakes as the hotel is very close to visit family and we had stayed previously with good stays.
We were looking forward to a luxury stay as advertised but met with many issues. My husband booked the suite as a surprise. On arrival it was big with a separate living area. It was very dated which I could look past but the horrible part was turning on to the tap to wash hands and loads of hair-shavings bubbling up through the sink hole. Unfortunately it happened every time the tap was used. The carpet was faded and stained with radiator leaks. The doorframe of the main bedroom was coming off!
A very helpful young staff member Jacqueline came looked at it and then found other rooms available. We had to down grade to family room but that was ok as refurbished.
With it being between Christmas and New Year it was mainly skeletal staff. Jacqueline and another lady at breakfast as well as the bar tender appeared to know what to do. Everyone else seemed less experienced.
The spa and gym area was freezing and staff were not in uniform but their own hoodies and jeans- doesn’t quite give the look at being at work. I was informed hotel guests had to pay £20 to use spa which was not on the website and should have been made clear as that was one of the reasons to stay.
Reception staff though friendly also didn’t seem experienced. We had to ask for robes which are normally hired - again unusual for spa hotel but they gave them complimentary.
On NYE we checked with reception if breakfast on bank holiday New Years Day would be later but informed definitely at 0930. So we left our daughter to sleep more and went to breakfast to be informed it was open till 10.30.
Overall it was an ok stay but during the holiday period skeletal less experienced staff and lack of refurbishment did not give the feeling of luxury.
