点评:I visited really only to see the ww2 flying boat exhibition (being at the end of a long days tour).
Very interesting exhibition detailing how the Allies were able to give trans-Atlantic convoys an extra 100 miles air cover to protect them from enemy U-boat attack. This reduced the unprotected air gap in the centre of the Atlantic from 300 to 200 miles, and was invaluable to the Allies.
The use of flying boats on Lough Erne was made possible through the secret agreement made between Britain and the (then) Irish Free State to use the 'Donegal Air Corridor' that allowed Allied planes to pass from the western tip of Northern Ireland over the Irish town of Ballyshannon towards the Atlantic.
The exhibition was interesting and well laid out, though I was the only visitor, and they have fairly restricted opening hours. It's on the upper floor of part of the courtyard, an interesting group of buildings. It should contain a cafe, but at the time of my visit it was closed.
