Monster Divers的点评
点评：We spent 9 days with Monster Divers and completed a total of 23 dives, most of them at the incredible Batee Tokong. It was an outstanding experience that exceeded all our expectations.
Equipment & Dive Center:
The rental equipment is well maintained and serviced regularly. The dive center has a spacious drying room, excellent facilities for rinsing and storing equipment, and free Wi-Fi. Coffee, tea, and drinking water are available at all times.
The Team:
We did most of our diving with Medi, a highly experienced Divemaster with well over 1,000 dives around Pulau Weh. His expertise is especially noticeable during drift dives. He knows the dive sites inside out and genuinely cares about protecting the marine environment, often collecting discarded fishing lines or other debris during the dive.
The owner, Bobby, is the heart and soul of Monster Divers. His hospitality and willingness to help are truly exceptional. His wife occasionally prepared fresh fish and delicious Indonesian specialties. When I realized I had forgotten an important camera part back in Germany, Bobby did everything he could to improvise a solution. He also helped us organize our onward journey to Bukit Lawang and even drove us to the ferry terminal himself. Throughout our stay, our preferences regarding the number of dives per day, dive depth, and dive sites were always taken into account. As a passionate macro underwater photographer, Bobby—just like Medi—has an incredible eye for spotting even the tiniest macro critters, while also finding plenty of pelagic species.
The Dive Sites:
Pulau Weh is a true paradise for macro enthusiasts. We encountered countless nudibranchs, shrimp, crabs, and even a tiny octopus. At dive sites such as Batee Tokong, Shark Plateau, and Canyon, a wide-angle lens is highly recommended. On every single dive we saw schools of barracuda, tuna, and bigeye trevally. On roughly half of our dives, we encountered blacktip reef sharks and/or octopuses. Other unforgettable highlights included a mobula and a marlin.
With a great deal of luck, it is even possible to encounter whale sharks, manta rays, hammerhead sharks, Mola Mola, dolphins, or even blue whales. However, these are exceptionally rare and truly special sightings. But there are good chances to see dolphins from the boat and sometimes even from the beach.
Despite the warm water temperatures, the coral reefs appeared healthy and were teeming with marine life.
Some dive sites, including Shark Plateau, Batee Tokong, Arus Balee, and Canyon, can be challenging due to strong currents. However, the team is excellent at assessing the conditions and selecting dive sites and depths that match each diver's experience level. We frequently dived between 30 and 40 meters, with some dives reaching depths of up to 50 meters.
Another unique highlight is the underwater volcano, where you can hand-feed pufferfish and bannerfish—an unforgettable experience.
Most time we were just diving alone with Medi.
Conclusion:
Monster Divers combines a professional team, outstanding service, a warm family atmosphere, and spectacular dive sites. If you enjoy macro life, exciting drift dives, and the chance of encountering pelagic species, this is the perfect place to dive. We would return without hesitation.
