点评：We arrived early for a 21.16 train to Folkestone and were offered the 20.16 instead. We thought we’d done well until we saw the queue for Border Control. It took us two hours to get through. Not the fault of the French, I hasten to add. There were only two booths open on the British side, which meant five queues merging into two. The staff at the two open booths were working incredibly slowly. When we finally got to the waiting area for loading, we were subject to another one hour wait. We finally got on a train at 22.00.
It is understandable that there might be delays for various reasons, but the total lack of any information is very frustrating. There were no announcements made and no staff available to ask.
Interesting that compensation is offered for delays of over an hour, but this does not include delays at Border Control. The cynic in me wonders whether the ridiculous delays getiing through the two open booths were a eliberate ploy to reduce the number of cars getting through to the embarkation area.
