点评:Thursday 2nd October and we drove to Punta des Far on the eastern end of the Island, which is home to this lighthouse, Far de la Mola.
The lighthouse tower measures 21 metres and it stands on a clifftop which is 258 metres high above sea-level.
We paid the entrance fee of €4.50 to the Museum and Cultural Centre, which is located on the ground floor of the Lighthouse, in what was originally the lighthouse keeper's accommodation.
In the museum there were historic maritime items, artefacts, information boards alongside cultural displays.
One of the main features was a scaled model of the lighthouse, on a table in the centre of the floor.
From a doorway in the museum we were able to walk out on to the veranda around the building. From there we were able to enjoy the incredible views along the cliffs and rugged coastline.
Were a bit disappointed that were we not permitted to climb up to the lantern room at the top of the tower. It is understandable as this is a working lighthouse so inappropriate for visitors.
Once we left the museum we walked a short distance around the area admiring the dramatic and wild coastline.
Nearby the lighthouse is a resturant/cafe, Codice Luna, with outdoor seating with views along the coast.
There is monument here which is dedicated to the author Jules Verne, who mentions the Lighthouse in one of his books, which was first published in 1877. In the book Verne refers to it as "the lighthouse at the end of the world".
