An outstanding private Battle of Hue tour for serious Vietnam War history travelers

点评：This was one of the highlights of my trip to Vietnam. I took a private tour of Hue focused on the Battle of Hue during the Tet Offensive of 1968, and it gave me a much deeper understanding of what the U.S. Marines faced during one of the most intense battles of the Vietnam War.
The tour was conducted personally by Thuan Pham, also known as Peter. He has a degree in history and an extraordinary knowledge of the Vietnam War. It seems like he has read every major book on the subject, from both the American and North Vietnamese perspectives. His explanations were thoughtful, detailed, and balanced, and he helped connect the history to the actual streets, buildings, and battlefield locations in Hue.
Walking the city and seeing key locations firsthand made the history much more real. If you, a family member, or someone you know served in Vietnam, or if you have a serious interest in the Vietnam War, I highly recommend booking a tour with Thuan.
In addition to the Hue battlefield tour, he also offers tours of Da Nang, the DMZ, and other important Vietnam War sites. He has located many of the fire bases, outposts, and battlefield positions from the war, so he can show you the actual ground connected to the places you are interested in.
He also took me to an authentic local restaurant for lunch, which was one of the best meals I had during my two-week stay in Vietnam.
This is a private tour, and we used our car along with walking portions of the battlefield. That worked very well. I would note that this tour is best suited for people with a keen interest in the Vietnam War or military history. It may not be the right tour for companions or family members who do not share that interest.
