点评:We booked the Rewild Your Vegetable Garden Workshop and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Charlie Harpur was warm and welcoming on our arrival, serving coffee and delicious shortbread biscuits in the Apple Shed garden. His presentation was both informative and enthusiastic, clearly reflecting his passion and extensive knowledge.
Afterwards, Charlie guided us around the beautiful walled garden. The group was fairly large — around 16 or 17 people — and because the paths are quite narrow, it was sometimes difficult to stand close enough to hear everything he was explaining and pointing out. Nevertheless, the garden itself is wonderful, and we all learned a great deal from his expertise.
We then visited the Market Garden, where the manager explained how this highly productive area supplies salads and vegetables for the restaurant, the shop, and a local wholesaler. She was also very enthusiastic, and it was fascinating to hear how much produce is grown on site.
Lunch followed, and although the service was rather slow, we enjoyed fresh, locally sourced dishes using produce from the kitchen garden and nearby suppliers. We also visited the shop, although I did find the prices quite high. We purchased some venison from the freezer, but I can’t yet comment on the flavour as we haven’t tried it.
