点评:The cars themselves are incomparably beautiful but the visitor experience could be improved. At the main entrance you are dumped into a crowded jumble of a gift shop that would be a major egress disaster in case of an evacuation emergency. A proper lobby is needed.
Once inside there is no written overview of the collection’s history and display logic. Are cars arranged by type, chronology, or ? It’s largely unclear. A paper map suggests a route but the order seems arbitrary across several disconnected rooms. Lighting is not of museum quality at all, and the backgrounds are dark.
Slightly creepy is the fact that even if you have not booked a guided tour docents will trail you and initiate conversations when your body language is saying you just want to look. Their unavoidable discourse tends to get lost in the weeds, and the labels are also very heavy on technical jargon and anecdote rather than clear facts for a general audience.
In short, a must for the objects themselves but an idiosyncratic experience. Old car techies will be in heaven.
