点评:I’m not sure about any recent developments or construction near the falls, parking area or mountain because we visited last July, and I’ve never watched Game of Thrones (famously referenced as Arrowhead Mountain) but Kirkjufell was certainly high up on our list of must-see natural wonders that the Snaefellsnes peninsula in Western Iceland offers. The mountain itself isn’t volcanic, so the close proximity to Grundarfjörður is welcome given their robust amenities…for this part of Iceland.
There are several great places to stay and dine in town (incredible dinner at Bjargarsteinn, with alternate stunning views of Kirkjufell), and the road approaching Kirkjufell from the east has, surprise surprise, has some incredible lesser-known waterfalls you won’t want to miss. Arriving from the west pitches you up against the rugged and picturesque coastline, similar to other parts of the northern coast of the peninsula. For the most iconic shots of the mountain, however, head over to Kirkjufellsfoss, the rolling hills waterfall across the road, and you won’t be risking life or limb summiting the mountain. Really Cool Spot.
