Loved this quick trip to this delightful island, art, fresh cafe food, forest walks, and ruins.

点评：We turned our planned hike in the forests to a mini 1/2 day trip to this island when it was raining and our hike was not an option. The ferry was near the marina and easy to buy tickets and took ten minutes to get to the island.
Once you leave the ferry do not miss ( if it's open) the little art gallery there. The building is old with lovely wood floor and beams and they had a very interesting array of norweigan artists. Highly recommend visiting the lovely gallery, I almost bought a piece and they do ship it for you if you would like.
The island was lovely even in light rain to see the canons, little beach areas, the monks medieval ruins were fun to imagine their isolated life on their island...
We had some nice walks through giant trees with that magical forest feel and saw some wild sheep. We came upon the cafe and had a delicious fresh lunch. I loved my skagen smorebord and my husband had a huge nicoise salad he loved.
This was a highlight for our time in Oslo, lovely forest feels, yummy food, old ruins, delightful art in historic building, serene views from the water line and little beach and it took all of ten minutes to get there. It's not decked out for tourists it's a tiny slice of calm isolated island life. Go for the peacefulness right outside the city.
