点评:If there is such a place as paradise, this it it.
We arrived at Motu Akaiami midway through The Vaka Cruise, which there & back lasted 6 hours.
Towels and snorkelling equipment were provided, along with an island barbecued lunch of fresh caught ocean fish, which we enjoyed onboard.
As we approached Motu Akaiami I was reading up on how the islet once hosted a Teal Airways flying boat terminal. This is now a house, with accommodation available - see elsewhere on Trip Advisor.
The crushed coral jetty is largely still intact, and it’s from here in the 1950s-1960s passengers would take a small tender out to a Short Solent flying boat in the lagoon.
There are black & white stills and even colour film online of the beach in its heyday, and it was poignant to compare them with the scene around me.
Quite possibly the most beautiful place I’ve ever been, and I would have happily been marooned there.
All too soon we were ushered back on the boat and on to the next motu. I left a bit of my heart behind.
