A great place for a walk and lunch close to the M3

点评：This was a great place to meet up for a walk and lunch very close to the M3 with teenagers, their mum and grandparents, plus a dog.
It was easy to find with sat nav: there are several different car parks but the one next to the toilets is convenient.
The toilets (in a separate building) are clean and bright.
The cafe has a nice rustic atmosphere and an amazing and varied menu. Paninis, wraps, baps and English breakfast were all enjoyed, as well as tea, coffee, soft drinks and milkshakes. The food was well cooked and fresh. They had no soup available that day (midweek) but otherwise offered the full range. The crockery is homely (disposable cups for milkshakes but nice big china cups for coffee). There are about 30 seats at tables indoors, warm and cosy in winter. The staff were welcoming and friendly, and replied quickly on Facebook Messenger to book our table. They have run it for about 2 years so old reviews are no longer valid.
The cafe is dog friendly and very child friendly: there are lots of highchairs and a book collection. The childrens’ playpark by the cafe looked really good and new.
We enjoyed the orange marked 1.5 mile Nature Trail (cross the driveway and both walks start by the grass). The sign posts are not always obvious so photograph the map and keep your eyes peeled. Work was being carried out on one carpark, but the workmen paused to allow us to follow the route. It was a bit muddy (after rain) in parts at the top, but the bit by the lakes was fine. It is a varied walk in a short distance, with grass, forest and heathland plus boards showing the local nature. The dog really enjoyed it (and loved a swim in the lake - sorry to the fisherman!). Highly recommended.

这家咖啡馆允许带狗，也非常适合带孩子来：有很多儿童座椅，还有丰富的书籍。咖啡馆旁边的儿童游乐场看起来很棒，而且很新。
我们很喜欢那条橙色标记的1.5英里自然步道（穿过车道，两条步道都从草地开始）。路标有时不太显眼，所以最好拍张地图，并仔细寻找。其中一个停车场正在施工，但工人们暂停了工作，让我们顺利通行。步道顶部有些地方有点泥泞（下雨后），但湖边的路段很好走。这条步道虽然距离不长，但景色多样，沿途有草地、森林和荒地，还有介绍当地自然风光的指示牌。狗狗玩得很开心（还喜欢在湖里游泳——对不起，钓鱼的人！）。强烈推荐！
