Damp smelling lodge

点评：We booked a Falstone pet friendly lodge for 3 adults and our dog. It cost £488 for 4 nights . I had read the reviews and I'm sure when I booked it it was a landel resort not Hoseasons Magnificent . We have been to Hexham lodges ran by Landel and they are amazing so we assumed we would get something similar, how wrong we were. On arrival the veranda has a very dirty coco mat covering the floor and a table that is in desperate need of a sand and varnish. Once inside we were hit by the smell of damp and dogs . It was over powering. I opened all the windows and cleaned all the surfaces I could but the smell lingered. We didn't unpack firstly because we didn't want our clothes to take on the smell. Secondly because I didn't want to stay. I purchased air fresheners from the small shop but it only masked the smell for a short time . The next day I spoke to reception and they sent housekeeping who mopped the kitchen and bathroom, cleaned the benches and sprayed but it didn't help. We were in lodge 18 . I am aware it is dog friendly but if you are allowing dogs the carpets need to be cleaned regularly or lift them and put hard flooring down. I wanted to come home but we had paid almost £500 and my son had taken 5 days annual leave so we stayed.
On the plus side the kitchen is lovely and newly fitted. One door is out of line and at times stops the fridge door from closing but apart from that it's fine .
All our clothing including the things we didn't wear smelt strongly of damp. I definitely wouldn't go back . Our lodge number 18 was definitely not Magnificent maybe others are I don't know. It wasn't cheap and we certainly didn't get what we paid for . We have been to dozens of dog friendly caravans and lodges and this is by far one of the worst .
