Small Museum with Excellent Collection
什未林州立博物馆的点评
点评：This is relatively small art museum in Schwerin, in the old town near Schwerin Castle, but it has an impressive collection and very nice facilities. We visited in early December. The museum has been recently renovated, and the Classical exterior is very nice. The entry was through doors on the ground floor under the grand stairs. Admission was free, but we still had to stop by the front desk to check in. Facilities included lockers, toilets, and a gift shop.
The ground floor was dedicated to contemporary art and the upper floor to “Old Masters.” The latter included a good collection of Dutch painters, including works by Rembrandt and Cranach. One highlight of this floor was a large room featuring large-scale animal art by Jean-Baptiste Oudry. The museum was busy when we visited, but not excessively crowded, we had time and space to admire the art. Highly recommended. I would allot 2-3 hours to visit.
