Thornbridge Estate的点评
点评：A family and friends holiday in the Peak District during Storm Goretti has been (surprising) a wonderfully relaxing and enjoyable experience. It feels like it has been summed up with our trip to the Thornbridge hall and gardens...and Quackers(the cafe)....our host and guide around the hall was the lovely Liz. She was knowledgeable friendly and had stories to keep us amused, interested and generate questions. The hall has a fascinating history with owners over time adding their own idiosyncrasy and personalities. The current owners have taken this and played and moulded these themes to make a house and home that they share with the public. It is a wonderful place. You can feel as you meet them, that all the folk from the estate have a love for the place and you genuinely feel they are happy to share their space with you.
There are to many interesting, quirky and notable things to list. There is a wide range of art and craft work to enjoy and discuss...most have a story to tell. From the stained glass, the innovative use of electricity and the use of old and new furniture seems to give a feel of lived history. The family live in the house that you tour.
Thank you Emma, Jim and family for sharing your beautiful house and grounds, and thank you Liz for being such a terrific guide. We hope to return in warmer weather to enjoy the gardens in bloom.
