点评:This was my second visit to Kovalam, the first being almost eight years ago. I clearly remember falling in love with the beach back then and being amazed that India had such a pristine and beautiful coastline. Unfortunately, this time the experience was deeply disappointing.
The beach felt extremely crowded, heavily commercialised, and not as clean as before, with numerous stalls and vendors everywhere. While increased access is positive, the overall experience now feels chaotic rather than relaxing. At times, it genuinely felt no different from a crowded Mumbai beach.
The narrow and steep roads leading to the beach only added to the frustration. One of the roads was so steep that we had a minor accident, made more difficult by the fact that we were travelling in a large eight-seater car. Unless you are a very experienced driver, accessing the beach or parking can be quite stressful. We were fortunate that a kind fellow driver stepped in to help us during this situation.
Sadly, the Kovalam I once loved no longer feels the same, and for me, much of its original charm seems to have been lost.
