River Flyfishing Float Trip-Great Time

点评：My friend and I booked a river fly fishing trip through ConchalFun and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a different fishing experience. They picked us up from the Westin in the morning and drove us to the put in spot on the Rio Corobici. It was an about an hour and forty-five minute drive, east towards the volcanos.
We loaded into a small raft with our guide, Jose. He was helpful, informative and worked hard to ensure we had a good time-can’t ask for more than that from a guide.
Fished a 7/8 weight for Machado, a vegetarian fish that was looking for fruit dropping out of the trees. We threw surface flies (poppers, #6-sized flies, etc) on very short, heavy leader and tippet. There was nothing subtle about the presentation, as it was supposed to sound like falling fruit.
Casting is pretty tight, and Jose would stop us at times to get through tight spots and riffles/rapids. You are pretty much surrounded by rainforest most of the float. I would not recommend this float for anyone that has never fly fished, but you also don’t have to be an expert.
As far as fish, we didn’t catch a lot (wrong time of year), but caught some and they fight hard. At various times of year there are other targeted species.
Great experience and would definitely recommend to a fly fisherman looking for a unique experience. Being surrounded by rainforest is pretty cool, and Jose was a good guy.
