点评:I was over in the UK last week with my wife and we decided to visit the pub I used to frequent at lunch time when I was at college just down the road. Back then 12 and 1/2p would buy you a pint of rough cider and a few pence more would get you a Red Leicester cheese and onion roll. Needless to say prices have changed somewhat in 52 years but it’s still pleasantly cheap. The pub has history - during the Civil War the Earl of Derby ate his last meal in the pub before having his head removed from his neck outside in the market place by an executioner of the name Whowlett. He in turn ‘lost his head’ and it is still behind the bar (actually in a case ‘by’ the bar!) in another pub called The Pack Horse about 5 miles away in Affetside village. Derby’s chair used to hang on the wall in the snug but these days it sits in a display case due to some d*ckheads having vandalised it. Sad that some people have no respect for history! So… a great pub for a cheap pint and soaking up the history!
