Great communication prior to the tour and was easy to meet up.
The tour took us first to a local bakery where we had byrek Gijze (cheese) spinach and meat. We also had the tradition dhalle- a refreshing yoghurty drink
Next stop was Tujano a very traditional Albanian restaurant where we had Tave Dheu-earth casserole. This was so delicious. Veal mixed with herbs and cheese and tomato and baked. Served with chunks of bread, garden salad and grilled vegetables. This was a taste of proper Albanian food and culture.
Then to Oda Garden. Tucked away in beautiful courtyard gardens we were served Japrak - stuffed vine leaves, corn bread and Fërgesë a cheesy dish - the Albanian love cheese !! This was served with local Puka beer.
Final stop was at a little ice cream / pasticcerie for Böse - a fermented corn drink. Opinion was split in our group! We finished of with some fantastic gelato from the same shop.
All the way through the tour we had time to talk about the culture and life in Albania as well as the sights we saw along the way.
After the tour finished Ariola kindly took us to see some of the other stunning places on Titan. It was a very hot day and I was worried about managing in the heat but we went at a gentle place, found shady places to stop and restaurants mainly had AC. This was such an amazing way to see a city and learn about it. My teens also enjoyed it! They were super full too! We just expected little tastes but we had a full meal and were stuffed ! Is you’ve got teens and want to engage them and learn lots about Tirana this is the tour for you. I highly recommend giving it a go.
